The Anti Civil Rights went first.
The first was the Bloody Sunday. This was a riot/ protest about the discrimination of African Americans. They were pushed away by police by tear gas and force that cause many people to die. The next was the four little girls. Their was a church that held black kids if they had no where to go. Someone in the KKK set a timer bomb off in the church and killed four little girls instantly. Martin Luther King was very upset over this act of harm. The last one was the Three civil workers that were murdered in 1964. They were pulled over for speeding, but then abducted and brought to a place where they were shot to death. 17 people were charged lightly and never convicted, but 41 years later Edgar Ray Killen, was convicted for his part in these crimes. It is crazy to me that he was convicted for this awful crime when I was only 5 years old. Crazy to see the fight of discrimination be not as long ago as I truly thought.
Next was the Pro Civil Rights Group
The first event was the March on Washington. This was a march that was about the discrimination of blacks. This protest was supposed to happen in 1941 but was shut down. It happened around 20 years later. This is where Martin Luther King Jr gave his famous I have a Dream speech and now it is known everywhere. The next event happened in 1961. A bus arrived in Alabama with freedom riders. Their was a protest waiting for them and they ended up blowing up the bus. Everyone made it out, but they were beaten by the angry protest. The next event was the Sit ins. African Americans would sit in on the white only diners. People would throw food and drinks at them, but they would not move. This is the mot interesting to me because the first sit in happened just down the street from my college today. It is crazy how close to home it really hits.
Rosa Parks was also brought up and how she sat on the front of the bus and started the bus boycott. People took bikes, walked, or found other was of transport to help the movement by causing the bus system to loose a lot of money.
