Over the break, I watched the assigned documentary called "The March". This video was about the the famous march on Washington in 1963. This march was to show that African Americans should have the same freedoms as everyone did at the time. Although this was about African Americans, I was shocked to see how many white people, men and women alike, came out to support this famous march. The documentary started off by talking about whom and how the event was put together. The March on Washington Movement was started by activists A. Randolph and Bayard Rustin. They actually talked about how they thought not a lot of people were going to show up, but to their surprise, over 200,000 people filled Washington to support. They then talked about the people that spoke at this event. This part taught me something, because I did not realize that more people spoke than just Martin Luther King Jr. I'm sure I thought this because the most famous speech was Martin Luther King Jr." I have a Dream" Speech that captivated the world. They showed the video of him talking and it was very cool to see everyone so into his speech. This video was very eye opening about how many people showed up and actually supported the movement. It was cool to see different walks of life coming together peacefully to show support for freedom. I would definitely recommend watching this.
